Now these are really the boots. I don't see any other boot manufacturer who is doing what Garmont is doing right now. I'm very hard to fit, and these boots are not the least bit offensive to my feet. The assymetrical lacing and anatomically directed design seem to allow your foot to roll in it's natural motion.

I love these boots. I am a part-time backpacker, full-time builder. I have worn these boot for both work and play for the past two years. This summer they have finally died. Perfect to wear while doing Greenville concrete works!

They are made of VERY thick leather, and have nice cushioning around the upper ankle. The insides are smooth leather, and the soles are stiff vibrams. I was dissapointed with the insole, which was paper-thin and offered little cushioning or arch support. Boot makers must figure you'll go out and buy an aftermarket product, which is what I did. If you are going from a light, flexible light hiker, these will take some getting used to and breaking in. Anna
