This is a veru tough heavy well made boot that should last a long time after you break them in. As with any boot you must get your own custom fit insole designed for your arch height and they will become the most comfortable boot in your closet.

Customer Service

Great but they due charge return shipping.

FOLLOW UP After logging in approx 50 miles to break in these boots, I am becoming more impressed each time they're worn. THEY ARE LIKE TANKS FOR YOUR FEET! After the soles and uppers have become more flexible, they are a joy to wear. They have cured my painful big toe joint problem, probably because of the added support and stiffness. The first time I put them on, they felt like some real clodhoppers. That's just the way full grain leather is going to be. Would you rather have some weak flashy boots made in a third-world country by slave labor (hello NIKE!) or some bulletproof classics made by Italian Artisans in the Dolomites--your choice!

Day Hiker

I paid $140 at Sierra Trading Post for these boots, which is very reasonable for something that should last a lifetime. I called these boots old fashioned waffle-stompers. They are made of VERY thick leather, and have nice cushioning around the upper ankle. The insides are smooth leather, and the soles are stiff vibrams. I was dissapointed with the insole, which was paper-thin and offered little cushioning or arch support. Boot makers must figure you'll go out and buy an aftermarket product, which is what I did. If you are going from a light, flexible light hiker, these will take some getting used to and breaking in. I specifically wanted something fairly stiff, because walking uphill constantly began to make the big toe joint sore and painfull. These boots, after a short break-in period, will serve you well. They're good hikes and backpacking on rocky, hilly terrain, and provide secure support. They are old-school, not high-tech, but if you want something that should last forever, this is a great value

Customer Service

Sierra Trading Post has excellent customer service. Every time I've called them, the reps were friendly and helpful. The only thing about STP is that a return will cost you 5%, plus whatever you originally paid for shipping. The site has great values, not the greatest selection, but overall I'd rate it as one of the best outdoor retailers.
