5.5 years of happy use--now the nobs have finally worn quite thin, but the traction is still pretty good & leather is still OK. About 6 months ago I noticed the stitching beginning to go on the back/inside of the ankles of both boots. 2 dabs of Shoe Goo II seems to have quelled it for now. In all the years I've had them I've spent very little time in water/snow, so I've been happy with the waterproofing--but I haven't really put it to a test. I think the leather has really softened significantly. The last 2 backpacking trips I put on them left me wishing for more support. (a new development) Still, after years of flexing them, sweating in them, & applying mink oil every month or two, whadaya expect. Customer Service None Similar Products Used: None |

After 3 years of heavy use, these boots are still in good shape. These are some of the most comfortable boots around and the Gore-Tex membrane really keeps the water out.I apply Nikwax about once every few months for extra water protection.Average weight and price for a boot in this range. What a great boot! I got mine for 100 bucks (clearnence) and I'd pay more if I had to. Comfy, supportive, warm, and durable, what more can you ask for. These boots are made very well and the quality is very high. I wear them everywhere..... Similar Products Used: None |

shorrt/no break-in, no blisters, really take the abuse, after having them for a year, started wearing them daily, got them resoled after two years (I raeally abuse soles), and put in new insoles, a year later the mid sole broke at teh ball of the toe. I'm dissapointed, but would still buy another pair in a heartbeat. leather held up well, need to be sent back for a little restiching. Haven't been thrilled about watertightness, though tectron spray worked pretty darn well.excellent fit. Comes with fantastic laces. I have somewhat wide feet. These are rather soft and light boots which I favor for even extended treks, but which others limit only to short trips. Similar Products Used: None |

Asolo boots fit people very well because of their americanized design, but you certainly can't expect to buy these boots for their life expectancy...it is short. I have seen numerous pairs with broken midsoles from simply daily wear around town. If they fit, and you don't need them to last, by all means buy them. If you want to buy one pair of boots in the next 10 years, buy a pair of vasque sundowners. Similar Products Used: vasque |

I used these boots in the hikes in New Zealand and found they fit like a glove. You can really appreciate them after walking/hiking for 6-8 hours!! Similar Products Used: None |

With a low volume foot and high arches, it is difficult for me to find a good fitting boot. The ASOLO 520 GTX is such a boot. Break in was accomplished in about 50 miles, and the addition of Superfeet insoles solved the volume problem. During 6 months of teaching search and rescue in the field every weekend, the boots show little wear, and have remained dry regardless of condition, or outside temperature. The only problem I encountered with fit was a seam in the liner which just happened to rub on an old scar on my ankle. The new footbed raised my foot just enough to eliminate this problem. I've had these boots for ~2 yrs now and have never had any problems. Very comfortable (always had Superfeet insoles though). Vibram sole has proved to be very durable. Would definitely buy these boots again. Similar Products Used: None |

I've had these boots now for 2 years and have been very happy. I got the GV's (gore tex liner) and have had dry feet since, not terribly breathable but what full grain leather boot is. I've always used Super Feet so that helps the comfort. I've had problems in the past with losing toenails, I've always thought I had the boot sized right in the store with my own socks but... So I got the Asolo 2 sizes to big, and it has worked out very well. I've got about 200 miles on them so far, never noticed a break in period. Half of those miles were downhill with some pretty good weight, me and a 60 pound pack. No problems. Similar Products Used: Zamberlin and Hi Tec |

I have been pleased with my 520's so far, nothing to complain about. The break in was supposed to be 100-200 miles (so I was told) but they felt good after a fraction of that time. I hate my feet, or in other words, have a hard time finding anything that fits right/feels good, but I love these boots. Got 'em on sale and am very happy with how they have performed so far. Have even used them in winter hiking/camping, and they worked better for my feet than plastics. |
