Im a warm sleeper and I have the dry loft 10 and in my opinion it's only good down to about 20 then my feet get cold. Besides that its a well made bag mine has held up well despite my best efforts to destroy it. If you sleep cold go for a 0 or below. Customer Service REI has outstanding customer service. They do everything they can to help you out |

I'm a cold sleeper and so I decided to get the -20 when I shopped for a winter bag. The sole reason I got it was the price, you can't really find any other -20 down bag for a cheaper price; if you do, let me know. That was a mistake. After a long day in the mountains, you need to get quality sleep to recuperate and to be ready for the next day. The -20 Downtime won't do that for you if you're sleeping below zero. It's rating needs to be downrated to a -5. If you're shopping for a bag that's around zero, do consider the -20. However, if you're shopping for something way below zero, don't even consider this bag. Someone else also mentioned that it's too roomy. I'm not all that big of a fella and there's too much wasted space inside. Also, the DryLoft is probably worth it; 'cause if the bag gets wet, it's over. |

I have had a -20 version of this bag for three years now, and it is adequate, but not great - a *basic* bag. It certainly isn't a -20 bag, as I've been down to -15 in it and been *cold*. In fact, as other reviews point out, it can get cold just rolling around in it at higher temperatures. It is roomy inside, which is part of the problem, but also at least allows me to keep lots of cold-intolerant stuff in the bag with me. My biggest complaint? The zipper snags the draft tube and can get hung up quite easily unless you are very careful and slow about zipping it up and down (in contrast to my North Face bag, which you can virtually just rip open without problems). In the middle of the night, when nature calls, the last thing I want to have to deal with is a snagged zipper while I am trying to get out (or back in) the bag. This bag will be retired for another manufacturer's model (plus Dryloft) before next winter. Customer Service REI is great for basic gear - the staff of the store I go to is friendly, and for the most part knowledgeable. Returns have never been a problem. And the dividend every Feb. is nice. Beware of the shoe depts., though - I have had bad experiences in REI shoe depts. in multiple stores, and after some careful probing of some other employees and talking with other customers with similar experiences, figure that the footwear dept. at REI stores must be the gulag where they start newbies or punish poor workers - buy boots there if you want and if they are a good deal, but don't trust a thing the salesperson says to you while you do so. |

I have the -5 dryloft model in a long. Its a bargin considering the price of other dryloft bags. The temperature is very overrated! I admit to being a cold sleeper, but even with wearing lots of clothes and having a nalgene of boiling water near my feet I still get cold. The distrubition of the down needs work. When I roll to a side, it get very thin where my body is. also I got a long because I'm 6'1" while the length is fine they cut the bag for people that weight about 250lbs. TONS of room=more air to warm up=cold night! Ok so not the greatest for warmth but a good fall bag. |

I have the -20. Used in Adirondak lean-to 2 days Feb 99 at -15F and slept comfortably, as did 2 others also using REI-20. Wear silk long underwear, no socks, no problem with cold. Also used 4 days in Whites NH Dec 99, and again in Adirondaks Feb 2000. A tent is warmer than a lean-to. Do like the draft collar, good zipper pulls, but they are expected in a bag with this temperature rating. REI supplies a cotton storage bag which is a nice extra. Customer Service I have returned Plastic Boots to REI-Outlet (size too small) and received credit without question. Similar Products Used: 3 season bag (EMS Down under 25). |

I have the -20 degree version of the DownTime bag from REI. This bag has been used in Temps down to -5 degrees and I will never again use this bag in the winter. The down distribution is terrible and my feet nearly froze. I felt hypothermic as I woke after only an hour of fitfull sleep. REI's claim that this is a -20 bag is dangerous and foolhardy. This bag is comfortable to about 15-20 degrees above zero and has poor perfomance below those temps. Customer Service In general, I have no major problems with REI, but exhanging items can be somewhat of a pain in the @**. Similar Products Used: Marmot CWM. NorthFace Foxfire. |

I've had this bag for about a year. Haven't backpacked with it yet, but used it a lot. It is a good temp.range- not too hot or cold, esp. since it's down. My only complaint is that it isn't tafeta lined. The nylon is a bit sticky. Abd it isn't ripstop nylon. It's somewhat of a bargain bag, though so you get what you pay for. I think that for the price it's a great sleeping bag. Customer Service REI has awesome customer service. No questions asked and they replace or refund. That's one of the main reasons I buy their stuff. Similar Products Used: Ten years ago I had a synthetic REI bag. It was indestructable. A little bulky but that's the way synthetic fills are. |

I bought the zero degree bag for myself and my wife. We shopped around quite a bit and felt it was the best deal. We are very pleased the the performance! We both sleep fairly cold so we got the zero bag anticipating that we wouldn't really sleep in it under about 10 degrees. First use was 14 degrees and we stayed totally warm. In areas where it goes lower we will use a fleece liner or something. Customer Service REI has awesome customer service!! Similar Products Used: None |

I purchased an REI 15 degree downtime on sale for $100. A real bargain for a down bag with good craftsmanship and a no-questions return policy attached. Customer Service REI has helped me with returns, special purchases, and product searches for the last 10 years. Similar Products Used: None |
