For synthetic bags, SD is my #1 choice. Polar Guard 3D, durable rip stop and a very affordable price. I agree with the reviews below about the velcro, but definitely not a deal breaker. You can jam this into a med. granite gear compression sack and get this bag down real small. nice 3 season bag that will stand up to lots of use.

a friend did the unthinkable and dried his in a HOT commercial dryer - the bag looks like crap, but still keeps him fairly warm. overall 4.5 stars

Only two trials but very happy - motorcycle camping, the bag travels very compressed but lofts well - the infamous velcro tab solves with a small piece of lannel or (!)velcro stuck over the tab. One reg. one short for spousal unit, zip together fine - take a little time & dry-lube the zippers to avoid jams. BONUS - one frogstrangler thunderstorm with our feet resting on sopped towels as the tent floor
finally seeped through - outer bag was wet but the inside remained DRY and warm.

I've only used the bag a few times so I can't speak for the duability or how well it keeps its loft over time, but it's very comfortable. The fleece lining around the face is soft and the bag is warm. The rating is only +20 but with a liner you can adjust it if you need it to be warmer. I got mine at a great price from campmor, something like $120 and it came with a thermarest pad. It could stuff a little smaller but for the price this is a great bag.

Well, to begin, I'm on my second Wild Bill. The first one lost its loft very quickly, but was due to a problem with manufacuring, not the polarguard 3D, which I have nothing but praise for as an insulation. My thoughts on the WB, are a little less. The WB has some corners cut in order to lower the price. Im a fairly warm sleeper, and it is a little too cool for a 20 degree rating. I have had it in single digits, but I had to sleep with polypropelene underwear and a fleece and was still a little cold by morning. It is a toasty warm bag above 30, but gets cool below that, especially without a tent. Also, even though the synthetic is warm when wet, a little DWR on the shell would help with keeping it dry and confortably. I would only consider it as a 25-30 degree bag, and only if you can find it below 120 dollars. Spend the extra cash on Sierra Designs better bags and you won't be disappointed.

Customer Service

They are very helpful, and replaced the defective first bag without question.

I've used this sleeping bag for the past 4 years now, in conditions ranging from winter snowstorms in the Sierra, to hot nights in the desert of Joshua Tree, and i have nothing but good things to say about it. It's relativly light, packs down nicely, and can handle a wide variety of temperatures. The long size fits my 6'5" frame nicely, while still leaving me the wriggle room i need for sleeping. The 15 degree rating the bag has may be a little generous as most bags tend to have, but i have used on a night where the mercury dropped down to 12 degrees farenheit, and adding a simple polyester liner to it I was still comfortable all things considered.

Customer Service

I have always had good luck with Sierra Designs products, I own a tent made by them and i love that, and i had a very nice rain jacket that the only reason i still dont use is i grew a little and it no longer fits...

I got this bag about 2 years ago and I love it still. Mine is rated to 15 degrees, which I think is a little liberal, but it still keeps me toasty. The lining is super soft and heats up quickly. The fleece lining on the hood rules, super comfortable. I'm pretty impressed with the insulating capabilities, too. Last year we got stuck in a rainstorm for about 4 hours. After getting soaked for about 3 hours, we decided that the rain wasn't going to let up, so we set up my brother's Sierra Designs Nightwatch in the rain. Everything got soaked in the process, including my bag, but it kept me warm none the less. Ahhh, the beauty of synthetic insulation. The hood fits well on my huge head. The sizing is generous also; I'm 6'1" and I fit fine into a regular size(5'11") The only minor problem is the zipper snags, but that doesn't make me bitch like a lot of people who reviewed this bag. Also, for the people who complained about lost loft: don't store the bag in a stuff sack and wash it. I use Nikwax loft automatic and polarproof and it restores the loft and the DWR. A great late fall, early winter bag! Go buy one.

Customer Service

Haven't had to use customer service yet, but I've heard it is one of the best.

The Wild Bill is the best bag I have had (previous bags include Slumberjack, TNF, etc.). The bag is rated to 25 degrees (I believe) but its comfort range is incredible! Coldest was at Boulderfield (base of Long's Peak with temps of 20 degrees and 55mph winds. Warmest was on Ozark Highlands Trail at about 65 degrees. No shivers; no sweats. REGARDING THE VELCRO TAB: not a problem if you buy a 1" square of velcro at any craft store and stick it on the rough velcro part. SD gets my $$ next go around. . . .

I've had this bag for two years and have finally reached the end of my rope. Not only has this bag lost its loft but it has had nothing but constant zipper snags.
I returned it for a refund and bought a North Face bag that I'm much happier with.

Nice bag, I like it. Stuffed with Polarguard 3D. Used it for about 2.5 years in different conditions including on snow several times - Rainier, Colorado. Performs as it's suposed to and may be even better. Small and light. I like the fabric also. It is getting a bit thin in some places but it's probebly my foult - I kept it stuffed for a year, forgot about it, but it still performs OK.
