The XGK is a dependable stove. It does what it is designed to do: burn. I've had the stove for years and have never had a problem. No, it is not designed to simmer, but if you contact MSR they will send directions on how to get it to simmer. Also, it is a bit loud, but I'll overlook that becuase it is so problem-free, and time-tested. Arctic explorers use this stove. I think that says a lot. If you are looking for a stove that will last , will stand up to whatever mother nature throws your way, and will burn several fuel types, then this is the stove for you. My only wish is for a metal pump instead of the plastic one now available. Customer Service Excellent customer service. Similar Products Used: None |

HOT PANTS!!! This stove is the campers bunnson burner from chemistry class! I call it the wake up bomb because it really gets humming a wakes everyone up with the sound of breakfast being made. It is easy to use and made very durable, I doubt I will ever have to by another stove. I would reconmend spending the extra money over the whisperligt. If you want to eat buy a XGK, if you want to die of starvation (from waiting) and save a few extra grams and by a wisper. MSR dominates. Similar Products Used: MSR whisperligh Colman one burner |

This stove will burn forever on one bottle of gas, and you can burn just about anything in it. It works great with an outback oven too. Simmering capabilities are very limited - it's possible to use low pressure to simmer, but then you don't have the option of easily varying the heat output (e.g. heating something up quick, then letting it simmer.) I have used this thing from the Rockies to the Ozarks. It has never let me down. Put 3 together you can cook for an army. Customer Service In the past 5 years I have never had any trouble with this product. Similar Products Used: Have used a friends whisperlight which is an easy stove to use as well. But I feel more confident with the XGK. |

I love this stove! It lights without question every time and burns with a growl that is absolutely unmistakable. I have had mine for a couple years now, and other than the occasional cleaning, have never had to touch it. Boils water faster than anything, and doesn't eat through fuel like a suburban. Just don't try to simmer! Similar Products Used: None |

This stove is the best I have used. It runs on anything including aviation fuel that I got while in Nepal. I have not had any problems with altitude (cooked at 21,000') or temperature (-40F). The only problem I ever have is with the flame deflector so on long trips I usually bring a couple extra so that I don't have to fool with them when they get bent. Customer Service I am interested in the Primus Himilayan Multi-fuel as an alternative for lower altitudes since it can supposedly simmer. Similar Products Used: None |

This stove was one of my best ! The only real problem is that if you're backpacking in thrid world countries its pretty hard to get good fuel . When using heavily leaded fuel in the stove clean it oftenly because it gets stuffed very fast . Similar Products Used: None |

Great stove, no middle ground on temp setting but who is simmering at -15 and hungry. Always reliable especially in the cold. |

Simply the best stove made. Heats anything fast, reliably and efficiently. Climb with almost any guide and you will see this stove in action. The XGK is a workhorse and not made for finesse cooking. Typical MSR attention to detail makes the XGK stove a product you will use for a lifetime. A bit pricey but worth it. Similar Products Used: MSR Whisperlite & Coleman Peak-One |

Made hot tang at 20000 feet. I don't think I'd try that with any other white gas stove. Abit fragile, but it still works with the dents. |
