A good basic stove for the money, outperformed by the Apex II and others. It cooks well, but its not very light; I like the Apex II better. Customer Service The seals on the pump leaked after the first year of use, causing a potentially dangerous situation when you tried to light the burner on top. (At least until I fixed the seal.) I don't own one, but I use my friend's all the time. It works fairly well when it decides to actually work. It is simpler than a Whisperlite to use, but there have been many problems. On occasion we have to prime it by basically pouring white gas all over it an setting it on fire (even at 50 F at 4000 ft), also there are mysterious random fuel leaks that turn it into a fireball. I suspect my friend sometimes fills it with dirt instead of white gas so that could be the problem. Anyway, at least this stove gives you interesting stories to tell later. Nice stove. Simmers pretty well compared to my MSR WhisperLite. A little heavy compared to other stoves. Not very field maintainable compared to other stoves. Had to disassemble the unit to fix a air/fuel mixture problem. Similar Products Used: MSR, Optimus |

This stove is, in my opinion, fantastic. What makes it good to me is that even after being in storage for a year, all I have to do is prime and light. I have only had one negative incident happen with my stove and that was seven years ago. Yes, it is a bit heavy but for the performance I can suffer a little. The simmer control is good enough to use an Outback oven on with edible results. Similar Products Used: Sorry, I am unfairly biased. I have not tried anything else. |

Good stove for the money. Bit big/heavy, but lights easy, simmers EXCELLENT, and works well. Seems to leak once in a while and once caught on fire... didn't explode though so I guess that's a sign of quality hehe Similar Products Used: None |

Easy to prime, easy to light. Good burn and boiling time. Not the best stove ever made, but I swear by mine. Cost effective and reliable. A quick rebuild once in a while keeps it burning strong. Similar Products Used: None |

This is a decent stove. It requires the usual pumping and praying, but it always seems to light. It's durable - I've dropped it a few times. Despite a dented fuel tank it still works fine. I've never used it in any extreme conditions. I think I'm gonna go for a smaller/lighter stove for backpacking. The first time we used this stove something happened and it caught fire turning into a mini-Hindenberg hand grenade in the middle of our camp. I was able to keep my dad from shoveling dirt onto it and we all ran for cover. It didn't explode and it has worked fine ever since. Go figure - at least we got a funny story out of it. I find this to be a pretty good stove. I have never had problems lighting it, although I really haven't been in anything really extreme - and certainly not below freezing at the coldest. Right now, though, it's not working, I think because I've used gasoline for a while instead of white gas and it probably needs a good cleaning. Simmering is just ok, and for some reason, it never sits levely, leaving me to always have to search for a flat rock to prop up one end. It caught on fire at least once or twice that I remember. Although there were no explosions, it is certainly an interesting experience to have your stove with a full tank of gas engulfed in flames. My wife wasn't too pleased with that. Customer Service Nothing yet. I haven't tried cleaning it yet so I don't know if that is my problem. If not, I may have to contact customer service. Similar Products Used: None. This was my first and only stove so far. |

This is a fantastic stove for the money. I have found it to be consistantly reliable, easy lighting and a real good "simmer machine". I have never had to do any field repairs, as seems to be the norm with some other stoves I have owned. The only negative comment would be toward the weight and it would have been nice to have included a good stuff sack too. Similar Products Used: None |
