I bought my Peak 1 this summer and it has met and exceeded my expectations. It boils water quickly, and quietly. I have not used it at altitude yet, but it sure does the job here in Fla.

This stove kicks some serious butt! Through terrential tropical downpours and gusty winds to frosty cold mountain weather this stove chugged along. I'm still using the original 170g can of fuel I bought with the xpert (5 days on Mountain to Sea Trail-burrh, Western NC, a bunch of days on FLA Trail Ocala), as I type this I'm trying to burn it out so I can start using a new can for the hiking season. The fuel is way cheap for canned type and can be found at most outdoor stores.

This stove has been used by me for the past 3 years. Ease of use is a big convenience and it burns hot (12,000btu). I have used it from the desert to the top of San Gorgonio (11,499') here in So. Ca. and the only time I had a problem with the burn is once when the fuel supply line was actually buried in the snow, otherwise, it starts right up. Some people like to use the stoves that take liquid fuel, but with all things considered; ease of use, reliability, and a hot burn this is the one which has proven itself with me.

This stove hasn't failed me in three years. It has done great in 10 degree weather, as well as high elevations above 10,000 feet. While the fuel is more expensive, never having to fiddle with the flame as it warms up is the best.

Overall I have been extremely satisfied with this stove over the past 3-4 years. I recently had an oportunity to test it in cold situations, however, and performance was very disappointing. On a winter camping trip with temps around 5 below the stove didn't work at all. It wasn't until morning, having slept with both stove and fuel inside my bag, that it finally worked. Next two days brought temps in the high teens and the stove seemed to work fine. It seems like 0 degrees might be the threshold temperature for this stove.

Overall, this is a nice stove. I much prefer using propane/butane over white gas since it is much easier to work with. The flame adjustment is excellent making it very easy to simmer with. The stove is also quiet, at least compared to MSRs which require earplugs to prevent permanent hearing damage. On the down side, the flame starts to peter out as the cannister gets low. Don't count on boiling water with the last of your fuel. Also, make sure that the fuel is available in your area. This isn't a problem in the US but I would check other places before traveling. I would stick to a multi-fuel for most areas outside of the US.

I did break one of the legs with the first one I had before I made it to camp the first night. I think this was a fluke since the replacement has seen some rough use.

Excellent product. Lightweight, reliable performer. Super easy, super fast to deal with (I don't like really fussy, techie gear). Only thing I can't comment on yet is its durability. Very worthwhile stove purchase. Canisters are cheap and easily available.
