This stove is awesome. Worth the few extra dollars for the convienance. My hiking buddies still comment over how easy to use and lightweight the stove and fuel are. Great range in burn settings (Flame thrower to low simmer) Quick to boil water. If you tend to simmer, your fuel will last a long time. I have gotten over 140 minutes of burn time out of one of the larger cylinders. Only drawback is getting the cylinders. Look around, they're out there. Recycling them is a bonus. I've only used it on one trip but so far I'm impressed. The convience is great, no priming, pumping of gereral tinkering is required to get the thing working. It is nice and hot and more stable than other stoves. Finally the adjustability and convience of a propane stove in a form you can actually take camping. This stove is horrible. I have an MSR now, I puts this piece O' crap to shame. The Xtreme failed me so many times I was asstonished. In fact it almost cost me my life. Although It was Xtremely foolish of me to reley on it. I wasn't expecting it to blow up in my face. I got no eye lashes now and little pieces of schrapnel in my face. I tried many stoves in my day the Xtreme is the worst one . Customer Service If your looking for a good stove look else where. This one is garbage. Not only did it blow up in my face but it proformed Xtremely poor before that incident. Similar Products Used: MSR are amazing stoves through all the ones I've seen these are the best. |

On a winter trip in Northern Michigan where the temperature was -10 below this stove fired right up and kept working even when I left the fuel canister out overnight in the snow and had to chip it out of a block of ice. The large knob is great for using with gloved hands. The only drawback, and this is a minor one, is that it's pretty loud when turned up high. Similar Products Used: None |

This stove truly sucks it is so poorly made stability wise. I thought my MSR's were cheap and flimsy this thing is crap. go with a Optimus or Primus or something better than this stove. It failed me twice at 10 degrees or warmer at 9,000 feet. Never again will i use it. Similar Products Used: None |

Used this for first time this weekend at 12,000 ft in 10 F with a blizzard blowing. The stove fired right up, and did not blow out even though winds kept blasting through the fly. The stove was stable, extremly easy to set up, and very reliable over 3+ days of usage in a wide variety of conditions. I din not once experience any of the bad things others have said in this forum. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a very lightweight, reliable, and overall great stove. In fact, the other climber with me was so impressed hes dumping his MSR and getting a Peak 1 this week! Similar Products Used: MSR Whisperlite MSR XGK II Primus |

Why have the extra worry of leaking fuel tanks ruining your food, clothes, backpack and your trip? This stove is great. The fuel canister has worked down into the teens. I love the fact that while my friends are still waiting for the generator on their stoves to heat up I'm just about done boiling my water for my first cup of soup. Altough I originally had questions about the stoves stability, I found that bending a paper clip into an ""S"" and hooking it between 2 of the legs locks them into place suffiently for my use. Also, this stoves simmer capability is about the best there is on the market. Similar Products Used: None |

Owned this model for over two years, works very well. I got tired of having to buy the specific canisters for it though. ($5 bucks isn't much, but it adds up after you go through about 20 of them.) I ended up getting a MSR Dragon Fly. Love it too. Bottom line. Peak 1 Xstream a good stove, does it's job, if you don't mind buying canisters frequently. Customer Service Never dealt with their customer service dept, so I don't know how they operate. Similar Products Used: MSR Dragon Fly |

I love this stove. I have used it for about a year now, and compared to my MSR it is waaayyy better. The fuel canisiters are a little spendy, but they pay off because you dont have to screw with a generator or with pumping ht stove up. I really like the big knob, I can finnaly simmer things. My MSR was either all the way on, or all the way off. Not so with the Xtreme. Similar Products Used: MSR whisperlight |
