Strength:

I have owned 3 backpacks in my life. things have changed dramatically over the years as i recall my first metal frame pack.. But.. this tent is the best tent in the world. its easy to set up and its so durable.. I feel at home when I'm sleeping in it. I was going to replace this tent and save a pound of weight as it weighs in at about 5 lbs ( newer tents closer to 4 lbs ). I'd rather cut corners in other ways to save weight rather than give up my peak tent. I did some research to see if my tent and last iteration of sleeping bag are still viable and after reading the reviews by some folks who have owned this I'm not trading it in for anything. I have a TNF cats meow sleeping bag bout in 2005 and its also one of my favorites. I had to comment on this if any else is in a similar situation upgrading and outfitting a new pack, consider saving some of your old favorites. i'm glad I hung onto it.

Weakness:

I do recall getting some condensation in this tent over the years but what tent doesnt have condensation. I have waterproofed it with spray and washed the pine smell out of ( what a mistake that was ).. But its like new and I cant think of anything else I dont like about it. I could probably cut down on some weight by omitting some of the ditty bags that hold the tent stakes and such .. but thats me.. I prefer to be organized and carry the extra weight. My philosophy is if you can pack it and the weight is ok.. bring extra stuff you never know when you can use it to improvise.

Bought this in the 90's. Used sparingly for hunting and camping. 6 years ago pulled it out for some bike touring/camping and backpacking, until I could figure out what I would need. I have not replaced it yet. I have used it on 2 separate month+ long tours, many shorter tours and some hiking/camping. Got my $100 bucks worth plus!! Have had to replace one shock cord. it nearly blew over in a dust storm (haboob) near Four corners Az. But still rolling. This has been a great 1 person tent even if a little heavy. Time to replace it. Finding a new tent this durable not likely especially at this price point.

I bought this tent 14 years ago completely blind. I had never owned a tent and intended to use this one because of its size and ability to be packed away. I'm still using it today and will continue to use it until it falls apart (hopefully never!). I use it on the AT for 5 nights annually in the GSM and it's never failed me. Heavy driven rains, cold winds, heat and humidity and she's protected me every night. It dries in minutes so all those complaints I've read in other reviews of exces moisture don't hold any water. I've carried this tent for hundreds of miles but I figure the Peak 1 Aries has carried me for a lifetime!

i really lucked out when i bought this tent nearly 10 years ago. it was the first personal tent i ever bought and it's the only one i ever needed to buy. this thing has had zero leaks. i love the pocket in the roof to store stuff. my only complaint is it retains alot of perspiration (as wet on inside as it is on the outside). in my opinion... "alot". i have mostly used this tent in the late fall so that might be a contributing factor. it however has kept me quite warm. im sure this thing will last me another 10 years. if your lucky eenough to find this jem of a tent, pick one up. kudos Coleman.

i have owned this tent for 8 years. I haul it on my harley where ever i go on a long trip. it is small enough to pack on the bike but big enough (when set up) to fit me with an airmattress and all my other stuff. love this tent!!

I bought my peak 1 about 8 years ago and it's still kicking. It's gotten me through some pretty rough weather and i gotta say it's an awesome piece of work. A few leaks from the top, but considering the abuse i giving it... it's great. Easy and fast to assemble. I'm looking to upgrade to another tent, but can't seem to find one with a similar design.

These tents absolutely rock! I have been guiding and instructing full time for 14 years now and have not found a better tent! I bought one years ago as a "stop-gap" while my big $$$ tent was waiting on repair. I have used this tent for 8 years straight at over 200+ nights a year for some years and it has NEVER leaked! and, it has NEVER been seam sealed! you cant beat that! I have several high-end tents from MSR, Mountain Hardware, Sierra, etc. that have been given to me. But the PEAK1 is what i always grab. Most of my trips are in the souther apps where it rains everyday. I have also bought over 20 additional PEAK 1 tents for program use. all but 3 are still in service and working well after 4 years of teenager abuse! BUY THIS TENT, you will not be let down. Yea, its a little heavy (the older ones are lighter), but the quality is well worth the extra pound.

I absolutely love this tent. I purchased this tent back in 2001 and I have used it on numerous outings. I am looking to find replacement parts for it. Does anyone know where I can get replacement parts or tents?

My Aires has withstood days of direct sunlight, down pours and even snow. I have owned this tent for five years and it has proven to be the best purchases I have ever made for my camping equipment. I’m currently trying to transition to ultra-light backpacking, at 5.1 lbs the Aries is my piece of “heavy equipment” in my backpack. Last night after hiking nine miles on New York’s Finger Lakes Trail I set up my Aries in what felt like minuets, crawled inside and thought to myself that I think I may just need to sacrifice the extra weigh for comfort and dependability.

I've had this tent for maybe 4 years and lived in it for months at a time. Its proven completely reliable and I hesitate to buy any other tent because it could only invite disappointment. After 4 years I washed and re-waterproofed the fly and now its tearing apart so I may have to buy a new one. Note though, this sat for months out under mississippi and Texas august suns so maybe thats why the fly has gotten brittle.
