Yes a mountaineer by winter and a bakpacker always. I love this tent for packpacking because it is extremely light weight and it is well constructed. A lot of people complain about the small size of the clip 2 but I don't mind cause I like to spend most of my time outside a tent anyways. I sit out and cook and admire the wilderness around me, when it is time for bed I head for the tent. I haven't had a chance to test it in extreme weather because I have another tent for such conditions. Since the 99 models Sierra Designs tents have been factory seamed taped. I recommend this TENT!!!

I have the cd3 version of this tent. I bought it to accomodate myself and my two young sons on hikes and also myself and co-climber during rock and mountain climbs. It's the best light weight packable tent I've ever had. I've used it in 3+ seasons. It has never leaked or sagged and with stands some pretty tough wind. It also breaths well in hot humid weather. I got mine at Campmor which saved me a few bucks over REI.

Excellent quality and durability, at a great pice. Have had the tent for a few months now, and have no prblems of any sort. Plenty of room for 1 person and a lot of gear or 2 smaller people.

This is the first single person tent I have bought. It was a very good addition to my hiking supplies.

I bought this tent about two years ago and have since spent around 60 nights in it from Maine to California. It's a great little tent; light and easy to set up. Make sure the rainfly is on good and tight, otherwise you may end up a bit moist - as I found out one cold night in northern Maine. Overall, a great investment - super durable and actually okay to sleep two...just be creative getting two big packs under the vestibule!

Great little tent. Packs small and light with very ventilation. Just be sure to really set it up taught - it has a tendancy to get slack and sag with rain. Not the best for use above timberline. If a campsite is carefully selected it can be pretty storm worthy. While I liked the tent, I eventually replaced it with a NF Tadpole. A little heavier and smaller but a better vestibule and more wind and rain resistant. I used the Flashlight on a through hike of the PCT and it never let me down, although I had to get a little creative with stakes and stake placement.

It's light and super-easy to set up. I use a 97 Clip 3 and it's roomy for two people 5'6"" tall. I can fit our packs inside too. Ventilation is good for hot 95 deg. weather. The fly has not leaked yet. I only wish it was free-standing. East coast is Ok, but it gets tough in the desert and midwest were the ground is rockier.

When I finally went to a tent after years under the stars (in the rain, snow etc) I spent a lot of time and effort looking for just the right tent. I found it in the Sierra Designs Clip...but I bought the Clip3. After checking out the size and weight differences between the 2 and 3 I found the 3 much more comfortable. You can put two decent sized guys in and have plenty of room (how they figure on three is beyond me). It's bombproof and I have used it is 4 seasons though due to it's shape you have to kick snow off the top on occasion. The high price in this case is completely indicitive of the quality, it's flawless.

I purchased a Kelty Zen for my son that is similar in design and does a great job though it's quality is not nearly as high, but then neither is the price.

I bought this tent 15 years ago and have no regrets. It was a little more expensive than similar tents, but well worth it. I had the option of fiberglass or aluminum poles when I bought it, and wish I had gone with the aluminum. They were shorter, and would have packed easier. The fiberglass poles have hairline cracks at some of the joints, but otherwise have held up well. It is not a free-standing tent, but the footprint is small enough that I've never had a problem pitching it in the dense woods here in the northeast. I've never had a problem with moisture, even after a 36 hour deluge in the White Mountains. This is a great one man tent, but only an adequate two man shelter. There is room for two people of average size, and nothing more. If you are looking for a very light, rugged, and dry three season tent, this is the one I would recommend.

Great one gal tent, but pretty small for two people. The best thing about it is that it is light. The worst thing is pegs. I hate having to try to drive those things into rocky ground! It's not the easiest thing to set up, but it's not too expensive.

I haven't had this tent long, but as far as I can tell, it is absolutely the best. I wouldn't reccomend it for more than one person and gear, or two VERY close people, but that is a worthy exchange for the super light weight.
The first time I set up the tent, I took at least ten minutes to figure out the footprint. But after I knew what to do it sets up in about three. The stuff sack is a little small, and 190$ price just a little too much, but the ventilation is excellent, and so is the weight, and the overall quality of the tent. It's the best I've ever been in.
