Great tent for the price and weight. Used it well over 50 nights now and dont have many complaints. It is not free standing, which makes it hard to complain. there is also not much storage space for two people's packs or panniers.

I got a slight variation of this tent for under $100 a couple months ago and have been happily pleased. I had read the reviews, stats, and awards that the Clip flashlight has obtained over its short career and I will comply: it stands up to all of them.
You can set it up with two people in well under 5 minutes and it is also well ventilated and staked out. Inside the large vestible with reflective zipper pulls, you find the inside of the tent which is roomy for one with gear and snug for two with gear and packs in the vestible. There are also two large pockets on both sides of the tent with dividers. Two pieces of small cord are stitched to the inside ceiling to hang up assorted items.
The tent holds up in wind very well, and overall(even with the $185 retail price tag) it is well worth your money. Also it weighs slightly over 4 pounds, making it comparable to two bivies(for two people) but a heck of a lot more comfortable. For 3 season backpacking anywhere, bring this with you.

Nice tent, light and easy to assemble. Not as weather-proof as I would like, however

I have owned the Superflash 4 season version with 3 poles since 1988. Absolutely bombproof. Has never leaked even with a few burn holes in the top of the fly. Only drawbacks weighs 7.5 lbs(1988) and is not freestanding(mattered 1 time). This tent will still withstand a hurricane.

I do love this tent. I'm a "get your own" kind of backpacker and have a couple friends that like to mooch tent space, so naturally I was attracted to the Flashlight's compactness. I absolutely can't belive SD claimes this a two person, no way in crap. It is cozy for me and my 5400 cu in backpack and gear. Tough against wind and rain except the inside strap for the fly-door tie back dripped, so seal it, no big deal. Great guy wire set-up, super light/small. Could stand to be a little cheaper. But so far I'm in love with this tent.

Customer Service

I e-mail inquired to SD about using this in michigan winters. I had an answer in 4 hours which is AMAZING for e-mail replys. And you CAN use it in MI winters.

I can't complain at all, since I got this tent for only $50 from my friend, but if you can get this tent for $150 or under, you'll be getting a great deal. I'd rather it was freestanding, but it ultimately doesn't make a difference to me. It requires quite a number of stakes, and is rather small, but for someone like me (5'5"), it's spacious as all. When I first got it, I had no seam sealer, but was curious as to its waterproof status. I cut a piece of 3 mil plastic to size as a groundcloth and set up the tent and put on the fly (no guylines), and left it out overnight in the rain, as well as putting a garden hose on full power for about five minutes, hosing it down. Any water? None. A little condensation on the inside, but nothing leaked at all. It compacts quite small (although I stuff things tightly), and it's very light. Excellent tent.

This id the best tent I have ever owned. It is very durable and protect you from all the elements. It is so light you can take it anywher and fit it anywhere. It has been on numerous trips now and my partner and I have been very pleased. Ample space on the interior and in the vetibule. It is also very easy to get into. Wait and check around and you can find it on sale for arond $115.

Customer Service

I purchased the Ridgecrest CD, which is the exact same tent as the Clip Flashlight except it is green and the seams were not taped in the fly. Apparently it was made exclusively for REI. Otherwise, it is the same exact tent (weight, demensions, etc.). I wasn't able to get around to seam sealing the tent before I got rained on in 37 degree weather with a down bag. I was a bit nervous, but only one drip from where the zipper is in the fly so I stayed dry. I have since sealed the seams and have stayed completely dry in rain. This tent is also very stable in wind, without using guylines! I love this tent and use just the poles, fitted ground sheet, and the rain fly for a super light shelter in the summer.

Customer Service

REI has great customer service, never dealt with SD

I have owned my clip flashlight for one year and found it to be a very good buy. It is only a three season tent but I have had seven inches of snow pilled on it and it held its ground. The only drawback is that it must be staked to stand. A very good buy for someone who is looking for a lightweight soloist tent or a slightly cramped two man tent.
