Invested in an Ultra Quasar 5 years ago expecting it to last a good few years with it being used 2-3 times ayear on short camping/climbing trips in the uk. I have had to return the tent to have stitching on the inner panel replaced which was covered under the lifetime gaurantee however they reported back to me that numerous other stitching areas were showing signs of stress. Sure enough on the next trip the stitching around the door failed but this time I have to pay to have it repaired!!!! I could understand the failures if the tent had been used in severe weather conditions on numerous occasions but this is far from the case. The tent still feels new and is spotless, its bben wll looked after. I am extremely dissapointed with the tent & TN's so called lifetime gaurantee. I would seriously think about buying a TN product again purely based on the inadequate limited gaurantee...... |

I bought what was one of the early model Quazars 15 years ago and it has been in regular use since. I rate it bombproof, I have had it out in strong winds, and buried in snow. It is a bit heavy, but other than that it is perfect. |

I have a wild country quasar - purchased 18yrs ago and still going strong. It's a brilliant tent - I've carried it all around the world (yes it is a bit heavy), and have camped in hurricane force winds on many occasions-- the tent leans a bit in the wind but remains standing. Poles have broken twice -- once due to carelessness , and due to corrosion. Customer Service was purchased with a lifetime guarentee - failed to live up to this |

Terrific product. I am 6'5", and have plenty of room for myself, & gear. The double-door/vestibules are great for functionality. It can take any weather, for sure. Only qualms are the pole-sleeve construction, as opposed to clips. And also the weight...a bit over 9 pounds, you never forget where its at.

I am returning to the joys of backpacking and expeditioning and researched the tent market before purchasing a Quasar in January 2004. I have tested it out four times in the English Lake District, largely in driving wind, wet and temperatures around 0 to +5C. The tent held up well against wind and there was minimum condensation on the inner tent walls. I was, however, surprised by how much condensation collected on the inner tent floor and the atmosphere inside the tent was damp. Also, in high winds, the inner tent sides tended to 'billow'in, restricting the available space. But these are minor quibbles. The tent is robust, windproof and waterproof. Customer Service I called them up to discuss the condensation issue and received good and courteous advice. |

This tent is nothing short of life saving! I got caught in a gale which was gusting straight from the sea into the Welsh mountains at over 100 mph. The tent though rock solid was being flattened with each gust. After about 5 hours of being convinced the tent was going to be ripped out of the ground and sent off the ridge we had camped on, the gale abated. After inspection the next morning I was shocked! The fly-sheet had been literally shredded by the porch and two poles had split slightly at the base. Other than that the tent was still standing. More a marvel of engineering than a tent! I'm convinced that had we been in any other tent, I would not be here to write this review!! Expensive but you get what you pay for. Customer Service Efficient and friendly. Repaired my shredded fly-sheet for next to nothing and did a few little wear and tear repairs for free! |

The best tent ever built. I can stand up to anything. I have been in one in a force 8 gale and the tent didn't move. And that isn't the limit for them i doubt if anyone knows just how many have been used in the greater ranges. My advice - Buy one, you will never need another tent. |

Strength:
None
Weakness:
None An excellent tent, as an instructor in both a cadet force and for DofE expeditions in the UK, as well as a serious hiker/climber in my own time, this is the best money ive ever spent. I''ve been on a campsite where every tent on the site was levelled by a blizzard except my Quasar. Simply the best you can buy Similar Products Used: Quasar, Voyager, North Face Rock Solid |

It's deffinetally the best tent I ever had! You can pitch it everywhere. It is not too heard to handle when windy and once the tent is put up it is a fine shelter against the worst possible weather. Mine unfortunately has been stolen (from my car). If anyone has one for sale, second hand or just a good deal, let me know. That's about the only minor thing about the Quasar. The tent costs quite a lot. Similar Products Used: None |

Pros Customer Service The only time I needed to contact Terra Nova was when I lost my manual and repair kit, and asked Terra Nova for a new one to be sent to me. When I asked how much that would be, I was very pleasantly surprised to be told it was all part of the service and wouldn't cost me a penny. Similar Products Used: Vango Force 10 |
