Agree with most of what the hundreds of others have said. It's a bit snug for two, a little heavy, but it's well worth the purchase. Would strongly recommend for extreme weather. Not designed for hot weather - get a three season tent for stargazing and avoiding skeeters.

I purchased this tent to replace my tried and true TNF VE-24. That tent had served me from Alaska, to the top of Mt. Shasta. It was a tough act to follow. I am reviewing this tent to save someone else from making my mistake. Bottom line, it's too small for two people + gear in bad weather. This tent is bullet proof in bad weather, however...two big climbers will bang against the tent walls and each other the entire time. PLUS, if you are tall, you'll be doing a lot of contorting to get in. Don't get me wrong, I like the tent, but I didn't realize how claustrophobic it was going to be. This week, I am spending another $500 to replace it with a larger model. If you solo, great tent. Dog as a companion...perfect. Tall, or lots of gear. Go bigger. |

I bought this tent based on the reviews here and the reputation of North Face. I decided on this 4 season tent as I live in North Dakota and our temperatures can vary by 100 degrees from season to season. I first used this tent in November 2003 on a solo bowhunting trip on the Yellowstone River. The tent set up very well in minus 18 degree weather with 35 mph winds. It house me and all my gear perfectly. Its a perfect one-person tent for the hunter. This tent and my North Face bag kept me warm and protected from the cold, harsh elements. And it looks cool half buried in snow. My second extreme use of this tent was recently in my back yard in the spring of 2004. My 6-year old son and I spent a night in my NF Mountain 25 in the backyard on a 40 degree night. All was fine and dandy until a morning storm hit with 70 mph wind gusts, a steady 40-50 mph wind, and heavy rain. My son and I stayed in the tent instead of making a run for the house. The whole left side of the tent was taking the brunt of the wind. The storm lasted for nearly two hours but we stayed dry and the tent sustained no damage. This tent makes a great 1-2 person shelter in any condition. I did try using it in the summer but it heats up a lot. I did acquire a 3 season tent for summer use. I know that anyone who camps in the extreme or cold condition would be happy with this tent. Customer Service Never had to call them. Similar Products Used: North Face Roadrunner 33 |

I use the TNF for snow camping in the upper penninsula of Michigan. I have found it to be an impressive performer in all winter conditions. It takes a heavy snow load and wind is not an issue. I agree that it is somewhat heavy but it is a four season tent. It is warm and has lots of storage around the perimiter and roof on the ends. It is a stretch to say it is a true two person tent. I'd say you had better be in love if you are spending alot of time in it with another adult. I find it to be perfect for myself and a80 pound lab but not much more. Overall a great tent with first rate manufacturer support . Customer Service I know it would be great in the event you ever needed it . I have ton of TNF gear and warranty is handled great. |

This tent rocks! I've never met a tent that was completely bombproof but this is pretty close. Southeast Alaskan conditions can be some of the most extreme when it comes to wetness, especially wetness while cold. And this tent does pretty good. My only complaints are that it is fairly small for two people if you add gear, and the vestibule is nice but not quite big enough. Here's a tip, in deep snow dig down the entire vestibule area and it increases space. The other complaint is that the stakes really suck. In snow, once they freeze they're in there for good, but in regular dirt they're not the best. This tent has suvived some REALLY wet, extremely windy, and very snowy glacier excursions. And you can ussually get in on sale. |

What I liked the most of this tent is the variety of weather I can use it in. I used it in a "cold Front weather" at the sierra the Juarez in Baja at 0 degrees F, and it kept me warm. I also used it with hot Santana winds from the desert and it did not even blink. I have also used it by the Baja Sea in the summer and the ventilation kept me cool. Great tent. A bit heavy but carried between two is fine. Customer Service I have never used it. |

Best damn tent I've ever had. Got stuck in a 3 day downpoor on Mt. Baker, I never even saw a drop of water inside. Later we got buried by eight inches of snow higher up, but the tent held the weight just fine. Their is nothing like total having confidence in you gear, it can really put you mind at ease in a tough situation. Customer Service I've never had an reason to deal with them Similar Products Used: N/A |

I live in Canada's Arctic and I bought this tent 3 years ago. I have used this tent in -47C. It has been Great!, no rips, no tears and still very strong. It is heavy, but I know that I won't be wet or cold on my long hikes. I would recommend this tent to anyone who is looking for a sturdy 4 season tent. |

Reliable. After years of use, it remains a bastion in the storm. Undeniably the strongest piece of gear in my pack. Buy this tent. Customer Service Never needed. Similar Products Used: Dana Designs, Sierra Designs |

This is an awesome tent! I''ve used it several times and have never had any trouble setting it up on my own. The poles are color coded to make it easy to assemble, and the guide rope ends glow in the dark to keep you from tripping when you step out in the dark for a pee. Oh yah, the zipper ends glow also. I''ve used it on several climbs on Mt. Hood and while others were out in the middle of the night fixing their tents in the 50 MPH winds I and my partner were snug as a bug in a rug. Of course in my North Face sleeping bag also. This tent rocks and my dog likes it too, but she insists on sharing my ground pad. Nice storage pouches all around inside and you can buy an optional ground cloth that attaches nicely. Weight? you say! So what, work off 3 extra pounds off your own frame and it you pack the same as the rest. Customer Service Have never had any trouble with my North face gear. (Tent, sleeping bag, and back pack) but I''m sure by other reports that they would have no problem fixing troubled items. Similar Products Used: Mountain Hardware Trango- good tent also |
