This is probably one of the best mountaineering tents on the market. The low profile design is very effective at shedding wind. The North Face did a test and put their tents behind a C-130 and tested the strength. The Mountain withstood 80 MPH Winds (more than any other tent they tested)! The 12 guy out points really help stabilize the tent in high winds. The tent has a fall-proof design that is bombproof. It can withstand hours on end of snow, freezing rain, and high winds without failure (my personal experience). The 2 doors make a convenient entry and exit that doesn't make you crawl on your gear to get out. The large hooped vestibule has plenty of space for cooking and storage, plus it even has a smaller rear stake out vestibule to go along with that! I like the fact that the poles are in sleeves rather than clips, with in my opinion easier to use, stronger, and less likely to cause problems. Theres not really any disadvantages with this tent, everything about it is just great! I would recommend this tent to anybody, especially if you need a lightweight shelter that can withstand the wrath of nature without flaw and a livable tent to wait out storms or acclimatize to altitude. Great tent, Great tent, Great tent!!!! (oh yeah, those that think this tent is expensive, just pay for it now so you don't waste money on another tent when your just going to get this tent anyway, it's cheaper in the long run and you won't have regrets) Customer Service Haven't needed any Similar Products Used: My friend has a Mountain Hardwear Trango 2.something,I like my mountain tent way better!!!! |

I love this tent. I've taken it with me in the St. Elias Range in Alaska and it has stood up to everything mother nature can dish out. It has seen 85 mph winds on Rainier and 3 feet of snow on Hood. The Mountain tent has never failed me. Thanks alot TNF Customer Service Never have had to call them on my tent. But on Nuptse jacket i got i had a problem with the down on one of the sleeves not retaining it's loft. Got a new one for free Similar Products Used: I've tired all kinds of other 2 man expedition tents from Kelty to Mountain Hardwear. One leaked the other was blown down. I just keep coming back to my Mountain Tent. Why give up a perfect thing |

The only knock I have against this tent is that it is very heavy. It is also difficult to set up as it requires some brute strength to force the poles into their grommets. This tent is a bombshelter. The poles stretch the tent body as tight as a drum. In high winds, when guyed down correctly, it doesn't budge. The yellow colour makes it very cheerful inside. The vestibule is big enough for storing gear and cooking. The circular doors look cool and they are easy to open and close with one hand. Don't forget to add seam sealant to the places where velcro is attached to the fly! Similar Products Used: Sierra Designs Tiros 1, which worked just great too, but had a tiny vestibule. This has been replaced by other Tiros models with vestibules. |

From the Rockies to the Andes. Had it for the last 4 years and still rock-solid in 100 km/h winds. You can tie this baby off and it wont budge!!! I also have a Sierra Orion CD, but w/ the 2 doors, the TNF has better ventilation so I take it on sea kayaking trips as well... And in the winter, OH BOY just a tad heavy in the pack... This tent is great. My dad and I use it on Mt. Ranier every year. It is typical North Face quality and I expect it to last for the rest of my life. Needless to say I am very impressed. Similar Products Used: None |

I have a TNF Mountain. As everyone says it is heavy. 9lbs+. That's because it is made to withstand very severe weather. Once I left my ground cloth sticking out in a rain storm. All the water went under the tent. In the morning the bottom of the tent felt like a big water balloon. Not one drop got in. Very breathable too. Similar Products Used: Eureka, Apex |

This tent performs great in every condition, although it's a little hot in the summer. It's easy to set up, and comfortable for two people and gear. Similar Products Used: None |

Expensive! This tent is high however well worth the cost! I have had over 2 feet of snow on it and it was rock solid! It is very durrable for the more experienced ""tent pitcher"" This is no tent for the back yard. Take it to the EXTREME and it comes back for more, my favorite tent! Similar Products Used: None |

I'm tired of all of this hype about TNF tents. Why settle for a heavy tent, which is difficult set up in adverse conditions, and is small, not to mention not bombproof. To its credit, however, this is a superbly designed conventional tent. However, this tent is completely outclassed by Stevenson's Warmlite tents. They are about half the weight, double the floor space, and can withstand up to 150 mph winds! Not to mention the superbly designed one piece, double wall construction. If you want the best, don't settle for this tent. Similar Products Used: None |

This is just the best tent I ever own, Very stable and waterproof in high wind and downpour condition. It do get kind of hot in the summer, but for winter it is perfect. A zipper vent on the top would be nice for summer, and the foam is really ugly even though they did the job well. and a thicker pole like .380 from SD will be stronger.
