I've used both the Mountain 24 and the discontinued Aerohead for several years. The Mountain is a great basecamp tent, though due to weight considerations it's not the best tent to climb with. Both of these tents are bomber in high-wind and heavy snow conditions when properly guyed out. I have found, though, that with wet and heavy snow the fly can be pressed in against the inner walls of the tent, which can occasionally be problematic. Not the best value, but really sturdy.

This tent is ready for the mountains. It is one of the strongest tents i have owned in my career of mountaineering. With 12 guy out points thihs tent can take take gale force winds quietly and securely. If oyu want one tent that is ready for anything you can dsih out buy this one.

This has got to be the greatest tent there can be (except maybe for it's bigger brothers the Ambition and VE-25 which are just as good)! It's a very livable mountaineering tent (most mountaineering tents I've tried aren't the kind you want to be in a very long time). This one is great! I got mine for 300, but I would have payed another 125 for it. This tent is worth the money.

This is a great tent for serious conditions such as winter camping near or above tree line in the presidentials in the White Mountain region. It is extremely strong and quiet in high winds. I prefer this over the expedition 25 because I found the expedition 25 to be heavy, real tight fit for 3, and noisy in the wind. I wouldn't recommend this tent for most conditioins encountered because it is overkill. If you want an extreme conditions tent for 2 buy this one!

I have owned the North Face Mountain tent for over two years now. In that time, my best friend and climbing partner Chris and I have taken it on numerous trips into the White Mountains of New Hampshire in some pretty incredible conditions; once at full exposure to high winds. This tent is solid when guyed out. Setup is much easier than clip tents and makes for a sturdier tent. Ventilation is good and it's bright yellow color makes it easier to spot in whiteout conditions. The only complaints I would have about this tent is it's weight and it's priced a little high. I would, however, pick this tent over any other on the market at this point.

I had this tent for 3 years. It has served as a tent year around. It is warmer than many other tents. I've used it in howling winds and snow,
but in the summer if you use it without the fly on it's great to keep mosquitoes off.

The only down side is that it's only for two people. If you have a party of three (the most comfortable number for glaciar travel) then this tent will not work.

The Mountain Tent is a full expedition tent for high altitude extreme weather conditions. It has a circular door on both sides for easy access and ventilation. The front vestibule, although low, has a pole, which makes it roomy, and by staking the rear door away from the tent you can make a small rear vestibule. The tent sits low to the ground and is very stable in high winds. The tent is easy to set up and has plenty of room for two people but not three. The only disadvantage is it's height. If you are looking for a 4-season tent that can withstand high winds and snow but is still comfortable in lower temperatures and calm nights, this is the tent for you.

I hike in the worst of conditions.
It's a choice.
Like what mother nature has to offer.
Unfortinatly this means high winds and cold temps.
The mountain tent has the stability unmatched by any other tent in it's class, low profile keeps the dreaded wind off quite nice.
For a shelter that may provide life saving enviroment, the NTF Mountain Tent is and will be the only tent I ever buy
