I have had this tent now for 3 years. Although it is an older model, I have found it to be a quality tent at a good price. I paid 200.00 new. The newer models are a bit heavier. The first night I had this tent out we had 10 inches of wet snow. I had to bang the snow off the roof. With the rear window open a bit and the front door flap ajar I had no condensation problem. I have also used this tent in down poors with water streaming underneath. No problem.
For the money and weight. Can't be beat

I just bought the 2000 model and took it on a trip to Mt. St. Helens.
It snowed all 3 days with the snow having 35% water content and I stayed completely dry! I will always take this tent when I suspect foul weather. Condensation was a problem for my friend on his side of the tent, but not for me. I found their are not enough guyline hooks on the sides of the fly. The shape of the tent shedded wind relatively well though. My biggest complaint is the Rapid-Hub system. It goes up easily, but taking it down is a pain. It took me a week to learn how to fold it just right so it fits nicely in the stuff sack. Overall a great tent.

A wonderfull tent for the price. Very strong and easy to set up. A little bit more bulky than I would like but overall a great tent. Has stood up to heavy rains without a problem and the large vest. comes in handy. Anybody looking for a lightweight, 2 person/3 season, this is the one for you.

This tent is really good. It can take snow, rain, and high winds. Its also lite enough to back pack with. The venaltion could be a bit better. i think they have sovled the problems on the newer models. The tent is not Really a two person, but if you stow the gear in the vesable, you will have enoigh room. the smaller tent makes it easy to heat, which is good when its really cold out side. The price is the best part of the tent. you get a great tent for under $200. The tents a great tent that can compete with north face and mountain hardware. plus is has a great price

Customer Service

I have had my tent for about three years and have had it in all types of conditions. The tent works great in rain, I have not had any problems with it leaking at all in rains that lasted all night. The tent sets up in no time at all. I live in Arizona and do a great deal of summer backpacking even though I go to higher altitudes it can still be warm and the tent does not allow for good ventalation.

I have the newest version, the XV2000 with the optional cross-middle pole. The new pole really increases strenght and interior room. It does increase setup time, but not really, after you consider you can use the tent without it also like the 99 model. The tent has already been in heavy all night rain twice, with heavy wind, and the fly hasn`t leaked yet (I did seeamseal the two triangler side guyouts that attach to the new pole before use). I did see a flaw in sewing along the bottom of the floor where one of the side pockets is attached along the bottom eadge. And in heavy rain, it did seep a small amount. But this is a sewing flaw that can be fixed with a small amt of seamgrip. The intregal poles go up fast, but are a pain to pack. The vest. is huge, as I can leave a wet pack in it, and still cook easily. I made the gearloft tighter so it doesn`t hang in your face, as it tends too. This model finally vent very well with the longer back poles, and 2 eyelids on the vest. The weight is up to 7.4 pounds packed now. Overall, a good tent.

Customer Service

I`ve broken a pole (my fault), and broke a zipper to the vest. door (my fault again) on two different tents and occasions, and both times I told Walrus up front it was my fault. Both times they fixed or repaired the problems at no charge. They even fixed my old guyouts with new webbing without asking on my old Windshear fly. Very satisfied with their customer service.

ive had this one since the end of summer. the only complaints I have are 1)only one vestibule 2) I get some condensation built up in the winter when I keep windows up and the fly on. If you don't want condensation leave a window cracked. So its dryness vs warmth.
Other than that the tent is well built and very waterproof, something that is important in the NW.

I have used this tent once and I liked it because of its strength and light weight. I agree with the comment below about TNF Mountain Tent being too much tent for most conditions people encounter. I never used this tent in the summer or winter but I used it on a couple backpacking trips in the late fall. It was perfect for these conditions and it probably is a great winter tent except it is a little small. You can fit two people with no gear. That is why I bought the SD Draco for most of my trips because it fits two people with lots of gear comfortably! I recommend this tent because of the strength and light weight, and if you don't mind storing your gear outside with the elements BUY this tent!
