I used the Black Diamond Bod in my climbing class at my high school, and they are definitely one of the most versatile harnesses out there. The adjustable leg loops are a plus, and so is the synchilla lining on the waist. The only problems that I had with this harness was the padding (or lack there of) on the leg loops. The Black Diamond Bod is very durable and for the price, its a good buy for the beginner climber.

This is an excellent harness, especially for first time buyers. It is economical and versatile enough for gym climbing, top roping, and multi pitch climbs. The leg loops can geta little uncomfortable on a heavy belay or long repel though. Overall you cant go wrong with this harness.

Nice overall harness. I got it for cheaper than 50 bucks and am much happier with it having spent less than my partner. It has suffiecient padding for top roping and small leader falls but on the whippers the legs are a bit painful, then again whippers are always painful. The doouble back buckle is easy to use and very practical. I enjoy the adjustable leg loops as well.

I definately endorse this product, it's comfortable enough to use for sport climbing, although my original purpose for it was to fit over layers of cold weather mountain clothing. It's very adjustable and exceptionally light in weight. Even if you aren't in the market for a new harness, this is a beneficial peice of gear.

I got a bod for my first harness, first of all for the comfort. I started climbing about 6 months ago and got my own gear this christmas. I looked at many harnesses and my favorite was always the bod. I thought at first that there were not enough gear loops, but soon found that when i tried really hard i still couldnt fill them. I also like how easy it is to put this harness on over clothing. I really like my bod harness and would not trade it for any other. I am a beginning climber, and i would recomend this harness to any begginers out there.

I read through all the reviews and almost agree with everyone's opinion of the BOD..
I have two bods' One small for climbing in warm weather and one medium for cooler weather/winter where layering puts inches on your waistline!
I also have the two as universals for friends or beginners to use while out with me!
I feel the bod is suitable for most climbing except aid! An earlier review noted this! Aid in the bod puts waaaay to much strain on the thighs and pelvic area! Trad climbing/sport no problems! Rapping can be a little uncomfortable too!
Weigh in the pros and cons and the bod is not perfect but neither is any harness!
Good beginner / intermediate harness. Good mountaineering harness.
Good buy, good value, manageable fit, overall great value and quality with good function!
P.S.> any climber can take a flip when they take a fall whether the buckle is in their midsection or off to the side..???
P.S.S.>The plastic buckles breaking or giving during a fall? I bet BD would disagree with this one? Why would they make, market, and sell a harness which could be faulty in a fall? Won't believe it until I see it or experience it firsthand!

Customer Service

The retailer sold mostly BD goods and gear and the salesperson recommended it and the guy wasn't to far off the mark!

I started with a bod but have since upgraded to an Arc'Teryx Vapor and also use a fitted singing rock for lighter days!
Shame on the guy who leaves his Arc"Teryx in his equipment pile...
I like all of my harnesses and have specific use for each!
I also have the singing rock chest harness for aid climbing.

I like my Bod harness. It is comfortable and versitile. I use it for both sport climbing and alpine mountaineering and it has always been great. The padding helps, over the Alpine Bod and I am glad to have chosen the Bod over the Alpine Bod for that reason. I recommend this harness because of these facts and it is priced reasonably.

I owned an Alpine Bod as my main climbing harness originally and upgraded to the Bod when I started sport climbing. While it isn't the most comfortable harness for really really long hanging belays, it works fine for anything but aid, in my opinion. I would recommend this as a relatively cheap harness for a climber interested in anything but aid. It goes on easily making it a good choice as a harness that gets borrowed a lot or for someone who likes to take out beginners.
