My favorite all around shoe. Board lasting make these a pleasure to climb in. I climb mostly on granite and puddingstone so, the slightly stiffer feel is great for edging. I've had mine for about 5+ years and have had several resoles done. after a little break-in from the resole, they climb like they always have. I've tried some of the ""new and improved"" models and found that I get some gapping around my ankles, but not on my fugly black and greens. At $150 I don't recomend these for the first time climber, unless they're sure they'll keep up with the sport. there are some nice entry level (priced) shoes out there for less money. but, if you've got the cash to burn or the desire to climb - you won't be sorry with forking out the cash for these.

Love them, hate them, but if you have VERY flat feet (like me) you'll definitely love them on long, steep routes. I own two pairs, one resoled multiple times (5.10 Stealth C4 of course) and one almost brand new. I had them in Squamish, I had them in Verdon, I had them on Cima Grande, and nothing seems to be better for my flat feet. I tried different slipper models, but with all my weight on tips and not much support from the shoe, pain into the foot arch installed after one pitch. Aces give all the foot support I need and they are good on edges, cracks and slabs. They seem a little bit shaky on overhanging terrain. An excellent overall shoe...

You either love them or hate them! They seem to take foreever to break in. They're stiff and bulky right out of the box and many have trouble fitting the heel cup. My heel kept pulling up creating a suctioning sound with each move. Tying the laces differently seemed to resolve the problem. The Aces are great for cracks and long climbs...probably not best for sport route. It's a well rounded, time tested performance shoe.

This is a great beginner shoe, and is just as good for intermediate climbers. I've used this shoe in the climbing gym, and out on granite cliffs. It has great edging capabilities, which makes it a very stable shoe for beginners. I also find it to be great for smearing after breaking them in. I love mine, and haven't found another pair I like better. If you are going to resole these shoes, go for a softer rubber, and enjoy the climb!
