This jacket works great as light insulation or on a cool (not cold day!) It is comfortable, moderately warm by itself (very warm under a shell,) and seems to be solidly put together. Similar Products Used: Patagonia fleece and TNF fleece products (which I prefer to down because of the pit-zip option.) |

The Nuptse is a quality down jacket that you can pick up for a reasonable price. I got mine on sale for $99. Super packable and regains its loft quickly. Great for hanging out at cold belays or sitting at the campsite on chilly nights. My wife likes the jacket so much I have to get out in the wilderness to wear it. She wears it around town all winter long. |

Loved it before it got stolen. Kept me very warm. But could have a thicker fabric around the feathers - the fabric is thin. The feathers poke out very easily and float away and heat escapes. Not good in the rain. North Face probably meant it more as innerwear under one of their shell jackets, but the problem when you combine it with a shell jackt is that it is a bit bulky. This is a warm down jacket. It is really warm. The only "down" side is that it sheds down just like that. It is not a down proof fabric at all. The hood is a piece of nylon but I normally just wear a hat instead. It is a really nice jacket. I got mine from Cabelas for $99. It was a great deal. I would recommend this jacket to any one who hates the cold. Customer Service nope Similar Products Used: none |

A great value if you can find it for less than a hundred dollars. Otherwise, there are plenty of down jackets out there that are better deals. TNF used to make a down jacket very similar to the Nuptse with a Gore Tex outer layer, but somehow discontinued it. I agree with the other reviewers; the hood is pretty annoying. Also, the jacket is supposed to stuff into its own outer pocket, but it takes 5 minutes of hard stuffing to barely fit it in. Still, you can't go wrong with 700-fill down. Two words for you. Winter bouldering. Wear a t-shirt and this jacket. Put your hands in your pockets. When its your turn, take off the jacket. When your finished throw it back on. Its light, warm, and perfect for sleeping in if you need to spend a night in your car. Wait till it costs about 100 dollars. Similar Products Used: None |

Special use jacket. Keeps you warm, lightweight, stuffs small, BUT NO hood. It really needs a zip off hood. This seems to be a universal concern. Maybe it is great if you have other gear on your head, but a zip off hood would work with this arrangement also, and you could leave it at home it you wanted to. Really wish we didn't have to advertise TNF logo so much, but that has nothing to do with the performance. I am confused, do we try to stuff the pocket or buy a stuff sack. I just cram it in a plastic bag and stuff it in the voids. When I am cold and just sitting there, there are always the down plumes to count. Weight to warmth ratio is top of the line. Value, they are on sale everywhere for $120 or less. Must be the hood thing. Customer Service TNF has been very good when I needed them. I hike all four seasons and originally bought a Nupsie for my winter trips. Now I take it in Spring and Fall as well. The weight is so little and at the end of a long day I enjoy its warmth as I'll resting at the site in the early evening. The quality is great as well. It does lose feathers but that is true of most down products due to the nature of the material used and the sharp points on the feathers. It compacts into a nice small package, doesn't take much room in my pack and gives me some assurance of safety against an unexpected cold front by just having it along. The nupsie is a great product and I highly recommend it. You can get them on sale sometimes as low as $125 or so. Customer Service Just after I bought it I discovered it had a slight tear at the sleeve so I returned it to EMS and they gave me a new one - no problem! |

I LOVE MY NUPTSE, IM ACTUALLY A XC SKI RACER SO IT IS PERFECT FOR A WARM UP JACKET BEFORE RACES, AND I LOVE PUTTING IT ON AFTER A RACE. IT IS VERY WARM WITH A FLEECE. LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE SAYS, THE STOW POCKET ISN'T LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE JACKET.THE OUTER LAYER IS FAR FROM DOWNPROOF, I ALWAYS FIND TUFTS SNEAKING THROUGH. THE PRICE SEEMS KINDA STEEP BUT GET A DEAL AND YOULLE BE ROCKEN, ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT. Customer Service I LOVE THE NORTH FACE AND THEIR PRODUCTS, I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANYTHING I HAVE BOUGHT FROM THEM. |
