The North Face Mens Denali Jacet Fleece Tops

The North Face Mens Denali Jacet Fleece Tops

DESCRIPTION

The mother of all fleece jackets, this is a TNF staple. A super warm layering piece for cold weather expeditions. It's also a great looking piece for around town on chilly fall days, or cool summer nights in the mountains. With its abrasion-resistant reinforcements, this jacket is also an excellent dry-weather ski or hiking outer layer.

I purchased this jacket about a year ago while I was in Northwestern New York. So, I have used it in relatively cold weather. I think this is an excellently well made jacket with a wonderful warranty to back it up. I have not had problems with mine at all. Heavy, cold wind does cut right through it, but it's incredibly warm under a shell. My only complaints about the jacket is that it isn't too comfortable when zipped all the way up and the price is a bit steep.

Nice jacket but 130 is too much for something that the wind whips right through.

I love this jacket. I paid 100 bucks for it and it is totally worth it. I would have paid the full $160 for it if I had to. I have had it for 2 years and have had no problem. It seem to keep me warm in an condition and on any expedition. Great fleece!

Customer Service

TNF is great about anything and the fact that most of their stuff has a lifetime warranty is just awesome.

This was deffinitly a pricy fleese and I can easily see and feel why when I put it next to my other fleese jackets. It is clearly much thicker and warmer than any fleese I've tried. I bought this to zip into my North face mountain guide shell. When the 2 are together it's a warm but heavy combination. This is how I use the fleese 80% of the time. Alone, the denali is comfortable b/c it's functional and warm. Sometimes too warm. I've mainly used it as an outer layer to hike on really cool days. I usually end up taking it off once I heat up because it's too much. I can wear it around town on a 25 degree day without any complaints. The reinforcing on the shoulders is a really nice feature that tells me I'll be owning it for a long time. It fits me odd alone but zips and fits me perfect once in the shell.
I'll give it a 4 b/c of the odd fit durring the 20% I use it alone. 4 on the value b/c it is pricy for a fleese. I paid 20% less than MSRP which is more than $99. $99 would be a fair price though.

I have tried a number of different fleece jackets and this jack definitely ranks as number 1. It will keep you warm on long hikes, it looks great and is of excellent quality. You will never want another.

The North Face Polar Sun is noticablly warmer and feels more wind resistant than other (non-windstopper) fleece jackets I have owned. One thing though - when I say warm I really mean it! With this jacket zipped into my TNF Mountain Guide shell, I'm not comfortable unless the temperature dips well below freezing, even with the pit zips open on both jacket and shell.

The jacket, like most fleece jackets, is not suitable as outer wear in cold, windy conditions, but it performs admirably well under a wind breaking shell.

Quality of construction is commensurate with other higher end manufacturers' offerings. I've owned the jacket for about one year and haven't had any problems.

This jacket is comfortable and looks great if your out galavanting around town, but for practical purposes, it dosen't measure up. The neck of the jacket when fully zipped is extremely uncomfortable. This is enough of a reason for me not to wear it when I'm in the conditions that require it. Go for a Patagonia fleece, their great.

Excellent fleece jacket! I picked one up at the outlet a few months back and have been very happy with its construction and warmth. The pit-zips are much appreciated. It zips into my Mountain Jacket, which makes the combined offering nearly too hot to wear! The pocked placement is very well thought out - which was a major contributing factor to why I chose this particular fleece jacket.

I highly recommend the Denali jacket, especially if you can find it on sale. The $160 retail is a bit steep. Overall, it is still an excellent value.

Customer Service

I have not worked with The North Face's customer service, but my friends have all had wonderful experiences. One friend tore his Mountain Jacket skiing and it was repaired (with a couple of custom features added) for about $25.

Comfortable, warm jacket.

Pros:
+ Extremely comfortable - softest fleece jacket I have. This could be due to this jacket being 300 weight versus 200 weight BiPolar.
+ Zips in to TNF Mountain Light jacket (and others).
+ Large reinforced areas - should stop fleece bobbling as observed with other garments (Mountain Hardwear for one)

Cons:
- None that I can think of - very expensive if you pay full price - I got it for about half price though...
