The North Face Mens Denali Jacet Fleece Tops

The North Face Mens Denali Jacet Fleece Tops

DESCRIPTION

The mother of all fleece jackets, this is a TNF staple. A super warm layering piece for cold weather expeditions. It's also a great looking piece for around town on chilly fall days, or cool summer nights in the mountains. With its abrasion-resistant reinforcements, this jacket is also an excellent dry-weather ski or hiking outer layer.

Excellent jacket. Works great in any situation. Zips into shells for maximum comfort in really cold weather. Looks great and feels good as well.

Customer Service

I have tried, many other fleece jacket but the denali jacket have been the best I have come accross so far the fleece, is great and I really like the fit. It fit to the body and not too baggy like some others, which is improtant to keep draft out and for movement that does not hinder or bind. although the zipper when pulled all the way up in the cold could be a point of irritation. Overall it is a very good jacket.

Very warm jacket.
Works very well as a city jacket and as liner for my Mountan Light shell

But it is way too bulky around the waist to use comfortably while caring a backpack.

Since then I switched to arcteryx products - and could not be happier.

Customer Service

Customer service sucks.
Called them about my 1 year old gortex shel - the hood and the sleeves below elbow started leaking - and was basically told "too bad - try water repellent spray".
That is not the answer that I expect when a product carries a life time warranty.

The Denali jacket works great as a
city garment, coupled with the mountain Light jacket. But It is worthless
as a piece of backcountry outerwear.

No one I hike or ski with uses this
combonation. First, the extra zippers
involved add weight. Second, anyone with experience in the outdoors knows
that it better to layer, and this system makes it difficult to shed
layers when the temps rise.

The quality of TNF products as stated on
other reviews has gone down hill in the past few years. I'm not sure if this is because of a change in focus from the core to trends and fashion. TNF
is now owned by VAnity Fair! No longer are the making quality US made gear.
Made in Banglagesh or other third-world countries is on the labels now. I wonder if they are using child labor or sweat shops?

LAstly, I have to say that yuppies and wannabes have flocked to TNF. This has also driven out many of the core professionals. If thier consumers are now yuppies and greenhorns, of course
their focus will be on the department store market.

Customer Service

TNF customer service is below average.
I once had to wait 45 minuits to get help! The once sent on of my repairs
to the wrong state!

I just stumbled upon this site (looking for a new pack). Great site!! I purchase this fleece this past winter mainly to zip it into my TNF Mountain Guide Shell. Works like a charm (like it should). Very warm with the combo. I do concur with the rest of the posters that cold wind does penetrate the fleece when worn alone, but then if I had planned to wear this in the windy cold, I would've bought a Sentinel(Windstopper model).

During cold windy spring days, I would wear both the denali and the Shell as individual items (not zipped in), leaving the shell unzipped gave me the proper temperature. I do love the pit zips!!

In regards to where my denali is made, it's made in the USA. I guess the "outsourcing" didn't work out!! :)

I am an avid day hiker, backpacker and mountain biker. I own two Denali jackets. I bought one in 1994 and one in 1997. I have not had any problems with the 1994 Denali, but have numerous problems with the one I bought in 1997. About one month after I bought the 1997 Denali, I had to send it back for warranty repairs. The arm cuffs and the cuff around the bottom of the jacket fell apart. I also sent the 1997 Denali back for warranty repairs last year. The front main zipper stitches pulled apart. Currently, I need to send my 1997 Denali jacket back for repairs a third time. Within the past year, I have noticed that the stitch around one of the pockets of the 1997 Denali is falling apart. I cannot attribute any of the problems I have had with the newer Denali to more frequent use. Because of my unhappiness with the newer Denali, I wear the older jacket more often. In addition, the newer Denali jacket is thinner and less wind resistant than the older Denali jacket. I attribute all of these problems to The North Face substituting quality materials and labor with cheaper materials and labor. The older Denali jacket is marked “Made in USA,” whereas the newer Denali jacket is marked “Made in Dominican Republic.” I do not recommend anyone spending $160 on a product just because it has a North Face logo on it. Do not buy this jacket!!

Customer Service

They are very good about warranty repairs. I have had at least 3 warranty repairs with them and none have been questioned.

Best fleece I've ever owned and I have quite a few. If you want something that's great on calmer, cold days wear it alone, but for when the weather really kicks up, zip it into the Mountain Light jacket and you have the best combination for the price. Its worth it if you go places where you need this heavyweight fleece. Otherwise you'll be wasting your money and being hot all the time.

Very nice jacket. It is great for cool days around campus and some strenuous activity when it is cold. But when it is breezy and cold I walk a lot faster cause the wind goes right through it.Granted this cold clamy Iowa winters are tough to keep wind from sneaking into anything. I have to were about 100 weight vest under it to make it bearable on cooler days. Fits me perfect (6-1 200 #s). Love the pockets, warranty, looks, hardware, etc. I have a TNF mountain light gore-tex layer I wear it with when skiing or doing anything else in the snow and it works great. Good ventilation. I would recommend spending a little bit more to get the GORE WINDSTOPPER if you use it much with out the outer layer.
