I've been using this tent for almost 4 years now with no major complaints. With extensive use from the Adirondacks to the SouthWest deserts this tent has withstood some serious weather. Set up couldn't be easier and for the price I'm totally satisfied. With little maintenance (clean and seal) It has held up very well. I highly recommend this to any outdoors person who, like most of us, doesn't have a world-class budget. High winds can put you in a bind, but for all the good points of the tent, I can find a place to get out of the wind (most of the time!). |

I bought this tent and haven't used it yet, although I have set it up, checked it out and sealed it. I also put it on my loaded backpack for a "carryability test". This tent is not the lightest one I have looked at, but for what I paid for it, I am happy with it. I like the integrated double doors and vestibules, its reasonable simplicity, and I like the way it looks. It is a two person tent, but I won't hesitate to take it on trips by myself. |

This is a decent tent, inexpensive but does have some draw backs. The major flaw in this tent is all involved in the rain fly. since the fly is nylon, it sags when wet and the wetter the fly gets the more it sags until the point to which it starts touching the main tent canopy.. not by the sides, but the door ends. one has to constantly go out into the rain and restake the tent to keep the damp fly off of the interior tent wall. the other problem is that in heavy/hard rain, the zippers on the fly do not have a storm flap, so the rain will spray right through the zipper and then onto/into the tent at the doors. of course you can stop this by zipping up the high/low venting doors and leaving a little gap at the top, but if it's a summer thunderstorm, you'll feel like you're suffacating with the tent fully zipped up... if you dare to leave the doors open w/ the mesh, you'll have a nice puddle form inside the door from this spray. BUT other than these 2 problems, this is a great tent... great for clear days and clear nights, though it is quite possible to get by with the heavy rain and it seems to always downpour whenever i go backpacking. I purchased this tent for my first backpacking trip to the Adirondaks. I was really disapointed when it started raining and i was taking a bath. I figured i should have seam sealed it so we hiked out the next day and bought some seam sealer. Well, a couple of days later it rained again and it leaked even more than before. Take a look at the zippers on the fly. There is nothing covering them from the exterior. I could not belive that water was coming right through the fly material and driping onto my face. I would not recommend this tent to anyone. Spend a few extra bucks and you wont have to stay up all night picking wet underwear out of your butt cheeks. Customer Service Dopy salesman at GanderMountain wasn't going to give me a refund until i put up a fuss. All they carried were Eureka! tents so i went somewhere else. Similar Products Used: None |

Simply a nice tent. Adequate room, good construction and fair pack weight. You'll find it will hold up quite well in most situations. Similar Products Used: None |

This has been a great tent and I agree with most of the other reviews. To answer some people, I have been in a high wind situation. I took this tent to Australia for a year and we (there were 3 of us) went on a week long backpacking trip through 'Wilson's Prom' National Park. We setup for our last night and a freak wind/rain storm came in off the ocean. I'm not sure what the winds got up to, but would have to say 80-100kph (50-60 mph). We were setup door side to the wind which isn't the best direction. When we woke up in the morning (after only an hour of good sleep) there was a fair amount of damage all around. The tent withstood most of what the storm dished out. But because the wind was driving the rain so hard, there was one small patch of water in one corner of the tent. I might not have done a great job on the seam sealer either. Considering the power of the storm that is not bad. The Apex would be a bit better if it had ripstop nylon. My brother also brought a Quest (who I think is out of business) tent and got a stick through the door of the vestibule. His tent has ripstop and so it was just a small hole. Quite a night, Great tent. Customer Service Can't beat the price Similar Products Used: First tent |

I have a 4 person Eureka Apex type tent (re-badged for I. Goldberg store). Easily set up, light aluminum shock cord poles. Stays dry. Rain fly extends and zippers shut to keep shoes, gear etc. dry. Great convenience with 2 doors Similar Products Used: None |

I've had the Apex XT for a little over two years now. It was my first "real" tent (not a WalMart special) and I had high hopes for it, since as a kid our tents always leaked when it rained. I was not dissapointed. I have been in some of the worst and long lasting rain storms of my life in this tent, and have never gotten wet. In fact, the only time I've ever gotten wet inside of it was during cold nights when I didn't remember to open the doors so the condensation from my breath couldn't escape. I've never seam sealed the rain fly but it hasn't given me problems. As others have pointed out it does sag a bit when wet, but it's not something that can't be fixed with a quick tug of the adjusting straps. The two doors and two vestibules are great, my wife and I each have our own space to keep our packs and boots, etc.. Similar Products Used: Crappy Wal Mart tent with a worthless dome cap for rain fly. Might as well have bought a kiddy pool. |

I see there are planty of people enjoying the Apex XT product line. It is good to hear. I have had one since '99 and been great to me. Used it mostly in fall, spring and winter. It stood up to freezing rain, little snow and about 35-40mph winds, I didn't experience any problem with leaking. THe fiber glass pole sounded ready to snap (luckily it didn't)on my last winter trip but I hear that is usual problem when it gets too cold. Condensation got kind of bad on mugy nights and the rainfly sags some when wet. Over all it is just great for the price. I use it solo when go on short trips, beacuse I love to have the room if Don't have to carry it for too many days. Similar Products Used: None |
